I’ve been using one external hard drive for all of my school and personal work for the past year or two. This was a regrettable decision to say the least. Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve noticed that the hard drive has been slowly dying. At first, I thought it was my whole computer because of how slow it was running. But, I eventually noticed that it was actually opening this hard drive that was causing my computer to run so slow. I’ve been desperately trying to copy my essential files over to my desktop but it has been painstakingly slow. I copied one folder of about twenty gigabytes and it took a whopping 16 hours to copy. At that rate, assuming it isn’t getting any faster, I don’t think it’s feasible to expect to get the whole drive recovered. So, I will just aim for my important projects. Moral of the story: back up your hard drives.
